In line with a continued focus on high-level experience and expertise throughout our senior team, Scapa Energy has recently announced a senior appointment to its Director team, as well as a promotion within the Consultancy team.

Bruce Webb has joined the company as Associate Director, while Wigdan Hamour has been promoted to the role of Principal Consultant.

With demand for our wide-ranging independent assurance services at an all-time high, Scapa Energy now has a core team of 10 experienced personnel in addition to a broader team of 10 Associate Consultants.

Scapa Energy’s Director, Graham Walker, said of the company’s recent expansion: “In recent years, we have experienced a significant increase in demand for our services as the energy and high-hazard industries continue to seek out expertise and effective insights that drive organisational improvement.

“The addition of Bruce Webb to our core team adds a substantial depth of expertise in key service areas for Scapa Energy, as we focus on creating clear insights that help clients to strengthen their capabilities. Process Safety Leadership is become an increasingly critical service area for many of our clients and Bruce’s expertise in this area is truly elite.”

Bruce Webb, who joins the Director team as Associate Director, is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers with nearly 30 years’ experience and executive expertise in Operations, Process Safety and Process Safety Leadership.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined the Scapa Energy team and look forward to helping to elevate the Process Safety and Process Safety Leadership support that we provide to clients. Through our expertise, effective assessments, and leadership coaching, we can make a significant impact in building clients’ capabilities to manage process safety risks”.

Wigdan Hamour has also been promoted to the role of Principal Consultant, having been at Scapa Energy for almost 4 years and successfully led thorough and independent reviews of integrity management systems for a number of operators.

Wigdan has a PhD in Structural Engineering and offers clients extensive expertise in integrity management through her operator and consultancy background.

She said: “Being a part of the growth of Scapa Energy has been very exciting and a great fit to utilise my integrity management expertise. With the team of experts we have to offer clients, it’s great to be providing valuable insights through services that are clearly in high demand across high-hazard industries.”

A combination of regulatory and operator experience is commonplace throughout the senior team at Scapa Energy. It is our holistic approach and this widespread, varied experience that consistently provides uniquely practical insights to clients.

Bryan Cousland, who is also a Principal Consultant in the team, is another experienced consultant whose experience spans working for major energy companies and as a regulator for the Health and Safety Executive board.

Specialising in investigations, Bryan is a former master level investigator at a major operator and has worked on major incidents in the oil and gas sector. He also holds specialist expertise in contractor safety management as well as human factors, in particular organisational safety culture.

This dual regulator-operator experience has recently been central to supporting businesses preparing for regulatory inspection against process safety leadership principles. Through Scapa Energy’s process safety leadership assessments, Bryan’s regulatory insight has brought valuable perspective to clients in meeting regulatory standards.

Whether its in understanding risk, strengthening capability or learning from events, access to a uniquely varied and senior level of experience continues to empower Scapa Energy’s clients to take action and impact major organisational challenges including safety standards, capabilities and culture.
